29 September 2023 is a very special day to all Chinese around the world. On the Lunar Calendar, the lunar date of this day is the 15th of the eighth lunar month. Does the date sound familiar? Yes, that is when Mid-Autumn festival is held on. Mid-Autumn festival, aka Moon or Mooncake Festival, is the second most important festival celebrated by all Chinese. Its offical name in Mandarin Chinese is 中秋节(zhōng qiū jié). It is a festival that symbolises family reunion. As Chinese people believe the moon is said to be the brightest and roundest on this day which means family reunion. That is the core reason why this festival is thought to be so important.
