Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with this creative and entertaining Agamograph activity. It is such a fun yet easy way to integrate art into our language classroom. Through this activity, students learn about the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as the core Chinese characters related closely to it. Chinese poems are integrated creatively into this activity. Moreover, this Agamograph set provides opportunities for students to further develop their understanding of Chinese characters and improve their handwriting skills. Students can take their work home to share with their family and friends. Their completed artworks can also be displayed in the language classroom or school hallway, which will be very impressive to the school community.
Differentiation
Different versions of worksheets are included in this set, catering to students’ various needs. For beginner students, worksheets contain both Pinyin and Chinese characters. Moreover, stroke orders of contained characters are provided to facilitate students handwriting. The integration of Chinese poetry in this activity exposes background learners (native students) to the depth of learning Chinese.

1. Picture & Hanzi (18 pages)
6 theme-related vocabulary and its relevant pictures are thoughtfully selected, including 中秋节, 月饼, 玉兔, 团圆, 嫦娥, and 嫦娥奔月.
Differentiated Versions
Version A: The Hanzi image contains Chinese characters only.
Version B: The Hanzi image contains both Pinyin and Chinese characters.
Version C: The Hanzi image contains both Pinyin and Chinese characters. Stroke orders of Chinese characters are illustrated.
2. Hanzi & Hanzi (8 pages)
Both images contain Chinese characters for students to colour in. Four Agamograph templates are designed, including 团&圆, 中秋&快乐, 合家&团圆, 吃月饼&赏月, 月饼&月亮, 玉兔&嫦娥. Answers and work samples are provided.
Templates with larger images are also available for both 中秋&快乐 and合家&团圆. These templates will make impressive display!

3. Picture & Poem (8 pages)
Templates include lines of well-known Chinese poems that are closely related to the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as illustrated pictures. A blank handwriting page is also provided for students to write down the four lines for the poem 静夜思.

Template 2: 举头望明月, 低头思故乡。
Template 3: 明月几时有, 把酒问青天。
